My surgeries were done 2 weeks apart. I opted to remain near sighted. Right now
I'm struggling with astigmatism. Dr wants to wait 5 weeks after 2nd surgery to
get lenses, but astigmatism is a problem, especially looking at the computer
screen. So I ordered some glasses approximated by my previous prescriptions. 5
weeks plus 2 weeks to get new glasses is not worth the wait.
My thinking on remaining near sighted is that I most often wear closer range
glasses anyway, especially doing woodworking. I was also thinking in bight
light to maximize my hyper focal distance by remaining a bit near sighted. Due
to astigmatism I'm going to have to wear glasses anyway and didn't want to try
to correct that with the implant.
My first surgery they scratched my cornea. That was very uncomfortable for the
first week. I think 1 in 20 this happens. I highly recommend a bandage contact
lens if that happens until it heals.
Given the potential side effects post surgery, I would not want to have them
done at the same time. If all goes well, great, but if there is a problem, such
as I had, not so great if done at the same time.
My choice to get the surgery done now was due to the rate of change in one eye.
My right eye went from -1.5 to -2.5 in 6 months. Supposedly the more advanced
the cataract, the harder the surgery. Not sure why that is?
