I'm not sure but recall that this advice applied to long telephoto lenses
such as the 600 and 1000mm. The mirror movement causes more vibration when
the camera is cantilevered far away from the tripod mounting device. I don't
remember where I read it.

Interesting. I'd been making a point (when using a tripod) of using a
cable release and keeping clear of the camera to release the shutter.


Where did Oly say that? I'd be interested to read more. I'm trying to learn
this step by step.
