Interesting. I'd been making a point (when using a tripod) of using a
cable release and keeping clear of the camera to release the shutter.

Where did Oly say that? I'd be interested to read more. I'm trying to learn
this step by step.

An observation on using the double cable release with a bellows.
I found it a bit cumbersome to use because it gets in the way, and can
itself transmit movement if not used very carefully.

I now don't use it into the bellows, but instead use the manual stop down on the
bellows (and if the light is good enough focus stopped down, which
should be easier with the Varimagni i just found). With the cable release
in the shutter only (ie single not double cable).

Then stand back, hold the cable release until steady,
and release. But now I'll try holding the camera as above.

Am I missing something with using this double cable release?

Maybe that could be ameliorated by using thin strips of a damper such as
Sorbothane between camera and tripod?
