I'm Roger Wesson, a postgraduate student in London. I've been on the
list for exactly one year today! In that time, approximately doubled my
collection of lenses, sadly seen my number of OM bodies decrease by one,
but happily discovered that I really do need a whole host of lenses that
I never knew existed before I subscribed.

I'm studying astronomy, and it was for amateur astrophotography that I
bought my first OM-1 with silvernose 50/1.8, almost five years ago. I
knew nothing about SLRs, nothing about photography, didn't know how the
camera worked, didn't have a manual, and so I learnt very slowly. But
my word, it was satisfying each time I worked out what another button or
set of numbers did or meant! I really started taking a lot of
photographs when I went to Australia in July 1998. Up until then my
results had been pretty mediocre, but a few of my Oz shots came out
really well, especially one taken from the Sydney Tower at night. That
inspired me to take lots more photographs, and since then I've shot
approximately 250 rolls of film, mostly while travelling. I've managed
to travel quite widely in the last few years, and it's different places
and different people that get my creative juices flowing.

Ultimately I'd love to make money from photography, but I think that'll
take time I haven't got at the moment. And I really need a 21mm lens.
And another couple of bodies. And a load of macro gear. And... I
wasn't like this before I joined the list.

Roger
