Well... composition is the subject of a lot of debate.

My suggestion is to look thru books of pictures (photos, paintings, 
drawings...) and see what appeals to you. What stands out? What is 
beautiful? Ask yourself, what does this picture feel like? Would I change 
the angle? the lighting? the perspective? and work out what changes would 
have what effects.

Learn the rules. Then break them.

Karsh started out copying Rembrandt. He ended up OK.
