Johnny is asking the right question here... The first thing for Kierstin to
define is what kind of subjects she thinks she will be taking photos of...
This may narrow the logical choices of lenses, and the order in which to
acquire them. Of course, any good Zuikoholic will eventually have them
all... but we all start somewhere.

I tend to feel that my 300 is a bit specialized, its very good for the
motorcycle and car races, but not much good for 'people and family'
pictures, as I like my family and tend to be close to them when taking their
pictures. However, if I wanted to be 50 feet away and get 'close-up'
pictures, the 300 would be a good choice.

I personally feel the 135/2.8 or 200/4.0 would be better choices for a
versatile medium-telephoto. Over 200 the uses get more narrow and the
technique more difficult. If all I had was an OM and a 50, the first
telephoto length lens I would look for would be something about 100/135 and
maybe 200. When I bought my first, original OM kit in 1976, I bought the
OM-1 with 50/1.4, 24/2.8, and 75-150/4.0 lenses. That was enough for about
15 years, what's happened since I don't want to talk about... <g>

OM-1's, -2's, -4's, (no -3's yet) and no OM-oney...
