All you can do is check the seller's history very carefully before you bid.
Even so, it's rare but there are times when the seller doesn't realize that what
they're selling has a problem.  When that happens, all you can do is ask them
for an adjustment -- maybe a refund, perhaps, if you return the item.  Most good
sellers want to protect their reputation and will work with you.  Some of them
will assume you've just gotten "cold feet" ("buyers remorse"), and the item is
really just fine and you're just trying to get out of the deal.  A very few will
just tell you to "get lost", but that's quite unusual.
