Not sure where AKAG is. Joel's in the past, far past.

I don't have an E-1 anymore, and don't have any higher ISO images with it.
Best I can do is an E-PL1 shot @ ISO 1250.
Nice and noisy, with lots of color confetti.

Run it through some current software, and poof! <

The trick is, do this stuff before uprezzing!

I'm familiar with your advice on this. As I said, I'm not working with
noisy images (by my standards). I'm quite happy with the small amount of
NR that GP (and/or Sharpen) does.

The one piece that I mention often is the "sharpening" effect on low ISO images (Defined here, with contemporary cameras, as below 800.) of Topaz Denoise AI. As no one ever responds, positive or negative, perhaps they don't believe me, don't care . . . ?

One of a few examples I've posted. <http://www.moosemystic.net/Gallery/tech/Process/Topaz%20AI/TopazDenoise%20modes/TopazNRAI.htm>

And here a whole slew of subjects. <http://www.moosemystic.net/Gallery/tech/Process/Topaz%20AI/TopazDenoiseAI_sharpen/TzDeNAIshrp.htm>

The result is that I use AI Sharpen seldom, relative to Denoise.AI

I haven't figured out exactly how GP
shall work for me routinely. One of the significant uses I see is the
ability it gives me to upsample extractions from E-1 (or any) images. For
example, I was just working with a vertical shot that I decided was more
effective as a horizontal crop. I was able to print this at 13x19 and feel
pretty satisfied with it.

I have become more of a fetishist about sharpening, so I am certainly using
Sharpen AI more than GP

See above. Denoise is often a better sharpener for low ISO than Sharpen, for me.

, but I'm new to both. Again, NR in both programs
seems sufficient to my needs. I'm "in the past, far past"? Guilty, yer
honor. (I just admitted in another thread that I'm still printing with an
Epson 1400!) I'm honored that you're keeping track. I have a backlog for
various reasons and I'm catching up and, frankly, enjoying myself (which
wouldn't have been the case for most of the last three years). So, sticks
and stones, sue me, slings and arrows of outrageous fortune -- bring 'em
on. My shoulders are broad (that's a metaphor, I'm afraid). I yam what I
yam.

I'm especially happy feeling that there is an afterlife for my E-1 images,
mostly because of the shooting I was fortunate to be able to do in that
era.

I feel just the same, except about images from my Canon 300D! 😁

Some of the best images I've ever taken were done with that camera. A little photo essay from 2004. <http://galleries.moosemystic.net/SteepFalls/index.htm>

I've revisited some of them at various times over the years, as post processing software has improved, along with my skills with it.

Whether I'll actually shoot a lot more with that camera I can't say
but can't rule out.

I can rule out going back to my older cameras, unless I buy used ones. Nope.

AG and I have been trading some private email about
gear and because I'm sort of split between going towards the E-M1 route and
the A7 route, I'm standing pat. In truth, I'm just very comfortable with
the E-5 and occasionally the 5DmkII.

I've given up. I have both. I use the Sonys primarily for old MF FF lenses, the
µ4/3 bodies for nature and travel.

I feel like I know them well and yet
still hardly know them. Not ready to put them to pasture.

I am a full convert to mirrorless. Some OMs in the house, but no DSLRs, unless I've
missed one. 😉

A shame you can't hear that voice - or can you? Here's ethereal.

But in the photo, she's doin' the Blues, and that doesn't seem to be in
the Ytube. Got some on CD - somewhere . . .
Very nice! I put on the good headphones for that one! Got more?

That was one of seven, "Meditations on the Seven Angels of Revelation " Search for Laurie Turley. Her husband, Ken is the composer. Now that they are retired, music and grandchildren are what they do.

Get my Carol's soprano and Laurie's alto together and they might just raise the dead. Haven't seen the since 2019, might see them again this fall - Yea!
