It wasn't exactly arduous.  Go to Apple and download the manual in PDF 
form.  Search the PDF for "reset" and follow the instructions.  I wanted 
the manual anyhow since I expect I'll be getting more questions when the 
word spreads that I "fixed" an iPad.
