Thanks guys, you have all been a big help. I believe I have the
information I need. I've removed the base plate and there is plenty of room;
the existing rheostat is about two inches in diameter. This weekend I'll put
a multimeter on it if the specs aren't printed somewhere. I'll also double
check the bulb wattage/voltage in case I misread the figures.
