All but 2 of my kids/god/step have tats, usually something artistic
(daughters face on a fairy) or representing their military service. Their
Mom had Celtic knot work in a snake.
I don't have any tats, I just tell them I'm from a time that scars were
cool, now I'm from a time trying to get them to soften up and disappear, is
cool.

Obviously, it depends on the environment and the extent of the tatoo.
A small one on the shoulder, say, will not raise any eyebrows. But I
can think of many situations (e.g. a job interview) where having lots
of body art will do you no good. No such issues with earrings.
