wow!!!!  Given the richness of the province of Alberta (oil, Ralph Klein
surplus and all else ) I am surprised that Albertans have not clamoured for
better legislated service.  I thought the Western Prodigy (Stockwell Day)
would have said something about this.

24 hours is a common stay length in Alberta, though there's nothing
"statutory" about it.  It's a guideline from Alberta Health and the Alberta
College of Physicians and Surgeons.  It can be changed at the attending
physician's discretion.
