The OM-2s and OM-PC have an inertia retard (delay) mechanism attached to
the aperture arm's mechanism to provide enough time for the program
mechanism to release the locking armature at the appropriate aperture.
This accounts for the different "sound".

The problem with non-Olympus lenses are due primarily to two situations
-- first, the aperture may not be "connected" to the arm in the back of
the lens. Hence, when the aperture arm in the camera is "locked" by the
program mechanism, the lens' aperture may continue closing even as the
camera begins to judge the exposure. Then, the aperture "bounces" back
open as it's springs pull it back to where it should have been -- not a
good thing. The other problem is that some aperture levers close the
aperture much faster than Olympus lenses, giving the arm too little time
to react and lock at the proper aperture. The OTF system will still
compensate as best as it can, but it's still difficult to control....
