I use a lot of Velvia for landscapes, macro etc and I think its wonderful.
I rate mine at 50asa, though I know that many rate it at 40. My question is
this though, why would Fuji suggest rating it at 50asa if 40 'brings out
the best performance'? Wouldn't they stamp the box with 40asa if that was
the best speed? After all they want you to buy another roll(s) of it
because you are delighted with the results.

Anyway, go for it. Use Velvia, rate it at 50, and you won't ever use
another film (IMHO).
