research and development. my problem with the above lenses is that they are just
way too expensive. it will not  be cost effectiv e for them to advertise them
because the market for these lenses is too small. i don't think that they will
price them at 3/4's to 1/2 of what they are being sold now new. lets' say that 
they
produce a new telephoto in the in the 300 mm range with IF(internal focusing) 
F4.0
with APO elements and macro capability and is priced say in the $700-900 range. 
how
many in this news group would buy the new lens? then how many of those who
presently own the 300F4.5 let go of this lens? what i am trying to say here is 
that
new development not only spurs the brand new market but also the used.

i just hope that they start doing something soon, because as Denton rightly 
pointed
out, there is a recession in asia, and, Japan is at the head of it. i'm from the
Philippines and should have realized this. given this situation, i think we 
should
not hope too much that there will be any dramatic development in the OM system 
for
a while, if ever.
