I'm using Win7, and will continue to avoid Win10. The only serious problem I had was with Photoshop Elements 12, which would not run on this computer. When I bought this Dell desktop, I ordered it with PS Elements installed. It arrived without the software. Maybe Dell folks knew something they didn't share. They finally sent me a download of the software, but neither I, nor the Dell support gurus, could make it work. I abandoned Adobe and went to Picture Window Pro, which works fine.

      Looking into this further I've found that the Win7 PCMCIA driver has been
a problem since day one when trying to use pre-Win7 PCMCIA devices. So, it
seems that I need to find a new driver, or perhaps just unplug the CardBus when
using Win7 safe mode.

     I found the problem!

     With every approach to this failing, I looked for anything else that
might be suspect. The first thing I dud was remove the dual USB 2.0 port
PCMCIA card (aka CardBus). Then I restarted through the F8 menu, selecting
SAFE MODE. It worked just fine. When I plugged the PCMCIA card back in,
it immediately went into the Blue Screen of Death "Memory Parity Error".
So that is undoubtedly the problem.

     Hard to believe that this would be the problem as I have used this
card for years with Win98/SE and WinXP with no problems. Evidently the
native Win7 PCMCIA driver is not compatible with this device, but the
correct driver is installed during normal Win7 startup.
