Not sure I understand. If it's dedicated to one function, it's separate.
dedicated means you can opt out and use it for a different function in
my mind - separate means it's a one function wheel/switch, here exposure

What I also meant was that there are three ways to check whether it
has been rotated by accident or for a previous shot, or not. No self
excuse accepted if I screw the shot ;-)
I hate my D700 for that unmarked flying wheel BTW. Accidents also
happened with the L1.
