The fujis provide just that; it's accessible and can be "blind"-adjusted while 
you're framing.
Also, you can check the adjustment on the top plate while lifting the camera to your eye (or later either in the VF or on the back screen)

I don't see a need for a separate dial. As you say, the setting is right there 
on LCD and EVF.

With my two control wheel cameras, E-M5 and GX7, one of the wheels is always EV compensation, my finger can always find it, and I can watch the setting change as I do it. I personally don't feel that a separate dial would be useful.
