Back to the basics of scientific investigation. Measure phenomena, form 
theories to explain experience, then test them.

When data disagrees with theory;

a. The program works.
b. "I don't think even the OS knows how to do that."

One must revise or abandon the theory. :-)

tool. But then, I only wrote end user 
software, not OS stuff. ;-)
