Yes, it certainly appears that the D3 is very much a sports camera.  Low 
ISO will probably not be of much interest to the buyers of this one.

Also announced was the D300 which has live view and an extension beyond 
what Oly and Canon have announced.  It has the normal raise and lower 
the mirror to focus but also adds image contrast detection ala point and

Sounds like the DSLR is creeping closer and closer to interline sensor 
type functionality which gives full time live view.  I think it will 
happen if someone can figure out how to make an interline sensor with 
ISO performance as good as full frame sensor designs.  Actually, it 
could be done now if the maker is willing to sacrifice a stop or two on 
the upper ISO rating.  But would it still be designed as an SLR?
