Pixmantex RSE requires "SSE" instructions in your processor. My 5 year
old AMD Athlon Thunderbird (introduced August 28, 2000) processor is one
generation too early to run it. For AMD the minimum is the Athlon XP
(Palomino) introduced on October 9, 2001.
Caution: If you have a Thunderbird processor your motherboard will
probably support a Palomino processor if you want to upgrade. However,
there are later model Athlon XP's that are not "Palomino" and these are
not compatible.
I bought a Palomino processor specifically to try out RSE but it was DOA
and had to be replaced. I've yet to install the replacement.
