I suppose they have improved but when I replaced my Sony CRT with an 
Apple LCD two years ago I was amazed at the increase in brightness and 
sharpness. It had a 600 to 1 brightness ratio then.

There is a lot of this digital stuff I am still fuzzy about. I 
frequently seen this dynamic range thing comparing CRT and LCD and 
wonder whether it is even meaningful. What is the contrast ratio of a 
paper print?
