I agree they have too many. Fortunately I have a Manfrotto 141RC and all my
bodies and lenses have the standard small rectangular plate attached.

When you get a little arthritis in your old broken fingers repeating that
twisting motion too often gets annoying. I prefer the QR plates. And yes,

They are great. When I'm swapping bodies and lenses, it happens very fast.
Without damaging the threads in the camera and tripod mount.
