Well I feel obliged to report that when I took an OM-1 to Jessops to repair, they first returned it unrepaired and with a scratch added to the focussing screen, and then returned it with a dent in the top plate added and a note saying it couldn't be repaired. They obliged with a replacement and I later got the 'write-off' repaired at a shop called Eagles at the Millburngate in Durham. The cost was about the same as a new OM-1, but it was my original OM-1 and I wanted it working again so I paid it! It's working as nicely as ever these days.

So, I have no intention of letting Jessops near my cameras again, but definitely recommend Eagles. They also have a shop in Sunderland I think, so if you're in the North-East they're worth considering I think.

Luton Cameras has a fine reputation, deserved - judging by the work they
have done for me on warranty repairs (Jessops use them as service / repair
