I trust this was deliverd with a BIG grin. Did I get caught in a time warp to April 1?

Actually, the list seems pretty calm after last week's rukus. The OT posts identify themselves so you can read/ignore them. The new OM users ask their questions and climb into the disease-ridden squaller (sp?) that we're all in with our obsessions. The FS posts and associated flames have calmed down. It's nice.

OK, the only thing that I would appreciate (FOR REAL) is someone to point out and inforce any "REALLY" poor behaviour, if it occurs. I'm on many other lists, and the best of them have very restrained moderators who you see very infrequently, but whose presence is appreciated when its REALLY needed.

Subject: [OM] Moderator on List

Since it is public now, I think we should discuss the possibility of a
moderator openly. I also think that now that the list is closed lets keep it
closed. No more discussion of opening it again. If anything we should talk
about further security measures.

Here are my suggestions:

1. Now that we have control of subscriptions I think I might say that I think off topic posts should be completely eliminated. I know this won't be popular
but it's the only way that we can totally bang any flames on the head
immediately.

2. I also think this should mean that an individual should be able to be
forcefully unsubscribed if they breach this rule 3 times in a week.

3. Decisions on unsubscribing someone should be made by a disciplinary team of three. The OM trinity if you would. I have nominated to be on this panel and
two others would need to apply. Maybe these can be rotating positions. I'm
happy to do it forever as long as I am subscribed to the list, so maybe the
other two can rotate.

4. Introduction of a new beginners list. Newbies should be thoroughly vetted
on this new list for a period of 18 months before they can join the older
elite list. I for one don't like sharing the same space with people who ask
annoying questions we've answered for the umpteenth time.

And yes I am glad that the list is closed to spammers and outsiders who have
no interest in Olympus OM. Bye bye Snow White and long live the democratic
principles on which this list is based.

Dave
