Here's a snip from Eric Gillen's stock column from thestreet.com that
appeared yesterday, regarding the run-up in eBay's share price:

"The company said its number of online auctions in the fourth
quarter tripled, from last year's 13.6 million vs. this year's 41
million. By the end of 1999, eBay had 10 million registered users,
a 350 0ncrease from the 2.2 million users it had at the end of 1998."

That's 10 million worldwide users. There are probably close to 200
million active consumers in the U.S. alone, and most of them will be
buying online in my lifetime. To those who think buying online is a bad
risk, maybe a safer bet is just to buy some shares in eBay.
