I'm probably beating a dead horse, but I need the exercise, anyway:

OM-4(T(i)) metering:

(A) Center weighted auto - when the meter is activated, the sensor at the
bottom of the meter box takes a center-weighted average reading off of the
sub-mirror. This is used to indicate the approximate shutter speed in the
display. When the shutter is released the same cell makes a center-weighted
reading off of the curtain and film. How much of the reading is made off of
the curtain vs. off of the film is a function of shutter speed. Longer
shutter speeds result in more of the exposure being calculated off of the
film.

(B) Center-weighted auto with memory - when the meter is activated, the
sensor at the bottom of the meter box takes a center-weighted average reading
off of the submirror. This is used to indicate the approximate shutter speed
in the display. If you press the MEMO lever the display will continue to
indicate the immediate center-weighted reading, which has not yet been
memorized. When the shutter is released the same cell makes a center-weighted
reading off of the curtain and film. The shutter speed actually used to make
this exposure is the one used to calculate the LV that is stored in memory.

(C) Spot and multi-spot auto - When the meter is activated the display is
showing the center-weighted reading, as described in (A), above. When the
SPOT button is pressed, a single spot reading of the center area of the
screen (as defined by the microprism collar on the standard screens) is
memorized and indicated in the display by a small diamond, and the bar graph.
A second diamond appears which indicates the immediate, real time spot meter
reading. If the SPOT button is pressed again the second reading is averaged
with the first one, and the bar graph indicates the averaged exposure, which
will be the one used. A third diamond then appears, again showing the
immediate spot reading. You can repeat this for up to 8 readings. If SPOT is
pressed a ninth time the first reading is lost. When the exposure is made the
indicated shutter speed is used. There is no OTF exposure in SPOT mode. After
the exposure is made the spot readings are erased, unless you use...

D) Spot and multi-spot auto with memory - If you activate the MEMO function
after having made some spot readings the LV will be stored and can be used
for subsequent exposures.

Now I could get into hi-lite, shadow, flash, manual mode, etc... but I think
this post is long enough. I hope it helps someone out there.
