Alkaline AA cells cost usually only $0.40 each when bought per dozen.
For 1.60 I can fill my winder with enough energy for 30 rolls of film,
probably more. The hassle of rechargeables just isn't worth it. This
is different with the T-32 which eats energy!

All dead batteries are supposed to be kept separated from other waste
in our country, and consequently they should never arrive at any other
than the toxic disposal site. 
When purchasing batteries of any kind we pay a contribution towards
the environmentally sensible recycling of all components in those
cells.

I think the choice is very personal, depending on being a heavy user
or not. Most of my home based battery use is from rechargeables - as a
matter of fact I use lead gel batteries for almost anything, including
T-32 (Quantum 1+ and Turbo Packs) and winders (special lead gel
battery  version of the Olympus 6 volt Power Pack 2). 
The small remainder of my use, in particular when traveling light, is
mostly with alkalines. A charger is not what I want to carry with me
then...
