You'll have to open the bottom first.  You should be holding the camera so
the lens mount is pointing away from you.
There is a long gray lever running from left to right, just in front of the
tripod socket.  Note the shoulder screw that is holding it at  the right
end.  The slot under the shoulder screw indicates the travel limits of the
lever . This lever is probably in the release position, or hhas slid to the
right, the last time  the shutter button was pushed down.  With a pen point
or tweezers, try pushing the lever back by sliding it gently to the left.
This "release slider" should go back gently and also make the outer release
button go back up.
Watter damage in the linkage may have caused the jamming, as could impact or
a broken spring.
