Hi Stuart,

I did a fair bit of phoning around to find some cheaper pricing for
consumables and gear. At present I use Vanbar's in Carlton or South
Yarra for E6 - $7.80 develop only E6 after their VIP discount. Vanbars
also offer VIP discount on C41 but I have doubts about whether they do
C41 any better than a good 1hour minilab. Last week Fuji Sensia II 100
was going for $8.70 /36 exposures and should be still available at that
price. As far as I know anyone can be apply for VIP membership at
Vanbar's, this entitles you to discounts on certain lines (including
plastic slide mounts, Kaiser ones from memory) plus their darkroom
consumables pricing seems pretty cheap to me but I think I've found
another mob who are a bit cheaper.

Tessars photographics in East Malvern also offer a VIP discount which
they offered to me when I mentioned I was doing a Darkroom course. With
this discount, chemicals and papers at Tessar's is a little cheaper than
Vanbar's and their bulk film loads are significantly cheaper. Plus they
often have a good selection of used darkroom gear that is reasonably
priced. They can't match
Vanbar's E6 processing though.

Teds Camera are also ok for short load films paper and chemicals if you
are in the Melbourne city centre. It pays to check them out on a
regular basis for their theme sales - e.g Black Friday Sale, Easter Sale
etc.

If you like Fuji Super G PLUS 800 film I suggest Sunstate Photos in
Cane Toad County a.k.a. Queensland for $7.51 per roll of 36, plus $2.50
postage and handling. Contact Peter Mery (pmery@xxxxxxxxxxxxx). If
any of you Aussie list members know of any other cheap sources for
photography gear that you are willing to share, then I'd be interested
in hearing from you on or off list.

Regards
S.C.
