Full frame is only from motion pictures in that the film is the same width with
double perf. Standard at the time was a 35mm frame that was more like
yesterday's half frame, it was crosswise on the film rather than lengthwise. I
don't believe anyone ever used a 24x36 motion picture frame, as wide screen
became common, the wider image was produced generally optically, and lengthwise
frames were more common with 70mm film.

Leitz developed the FF system so it could use commonly available 35MP film, but
not the 24x36 format, I believe I read somewhere their original cameras wer 24
by something shorter that 36.

If you wish to emulate MP then better to use something like APS-c or m4/3.

I beg to defer Ken, just once in a while :-)

FF is what we used in film cameras, OM included, and came from motion pictures.

Finding flaws in FF aka 35mm aka 24x36 is somewhat overstated when you consider
the gems the motion pictures industry worldwide has produced.

Youtube is mainly crap by and for non pros, non aesthetes, non name it and it’s
yours.

I nevertheless remain faithfully yours in so many respects ;-)
