Darwin has his own outfitters store up here.

But seriously, it's amazing how many people just disappear without a
trace up here. Hunters will occasionally find an abandoned vehicle or
makeshift shelter deep in the wilderness that shows signs of
abandonment for years. You want to believe that it was just used by
somebody for "weekend" use, but that's not the case. Somebody was
living in it (with no known ID) and just disappeared without a trace.

If you want to dive down a rabbit hole, look up "Alaska Bermuda
Triangle". It's estimated that since 1988, 16000 people have
disappeared there. That might seem to be a bit much, but according to
the locals, very likely. A ton of people come up here in some ratty
old van and drive as far as their last gas tank will take them--never
seen again.

Sometimes you KNOW something disappeared and maybe even where it might
be and then lose it. It took 60 years to find this wreck again and
it's just east of Anchorage. Recovery is still ongoing.
