We work harder for less, and  whole lot of us vote Republican. I guess it's
true you get the government you deserve.

I recall many years ago reading something about the French traveler and
writer Alexis de Tocqueville, who, when asked about American democracy,
said words to the effect that it was pretty damned good, and would be until
we figured out we could vote ourselves rich. I believe most people assumed
he meant the rabble trying to vote themselves rich. Who knew it would be
the other way, that democracy would be the tool whereby the rich further
enriched themselves?
