I don't know all the details but there is a choice for "HIR" hardware
independent restore, so improper drivers for a new system are not
loaded from the old.
There are a ton of choices during retore as to what partition to make
active, loading MBR or not etc.
Suppose I'd better read the manual before trying to replace boot drive
with SSD. Lenovo has a few other partitions to deal with as well.
