Without knowing (or caring) about the specs, all I can say is that the transfer 
from card to HD is plenty fast using the built-in slot of my Macbook Pro. On my 
desktop computer (iMac) I use a free SD card reader that came with a Sandisk 
card a couple of years ago, and that is plenty fast too. I am not sure what the 
issue for those who are worried about speeds etc.
