I didn't think icewine/eiswein was affected by botrytis, thus it's
distinct difference as a dessert wine from those so affected? Tassie
has their Wellington Iced Riesling, though I think technically it is
not an icewine as the grapes go through their freezing off the vine.
It's still quite a nice drop though. It's not a patch on the Canada's
"real" Inniskillin though.

A German friend was recently talking about the currently freezing
weather he wasn't enjoying, but noted that the vinegrowers in the next
valley over were very happy. The "oechsle"(?) - sugar content
effectively - was already good and getting gooder. The impression was
that this was going to be a good year for their eiswein.

Incidentally, I've a half bottle of '86 and a half bottle of '88 Noble
One in the fridge (actually, the former is still bears the "sauterne"
label). The '86 looks almost golden syrup coloured.

Cheers,
Marc
