I would suspect that an E-4 will probably be in the 14-16MP region. I've
decided that unless I absolutely need to buy something sooner, I'll just
skip over the E-3 and current 10-12MP variants and get the next E-Beast that
comes out. Fuji Pro 160S is serving duty for when I need higher pixel-counts
than what the E-1 gives me and is nearly identical to the E-1's color and
contrast.

In the meantime, I'm REALLY enjoying the images and quality that I'm getting
from my killer OM system.

A couple days ago I negotiated with the organization I shoot a HUGE annual
shindig for and we established a budget for film/processing. The majority of
images will be digital, but I have up to 10 rolls included in the pricing
schedule. One thing we're doing differently this year is I'm shooting for a
planned layout instead of just shooting everything that breathes and letting
them figure things out later. Regardless, the usage will still be between 50
and 100 published images and hundreds of prints. As it is a non-profit, I
pretty much keep the profit margin non-existent.

I used a second shooter last year, but may forgo it this time as we doubled
our frame-count, but the number of keepers only increased by maybe 15%. I
can roll the cost of the second shooter into film/processing as well as a
couple of radio-triggered cameras buried on-stage. For the "awards
ceremony", I'm thinking about a remote-triggered ISO-400 equipped OM body
with wide-angle lens mounted inside the podium. They do the "grip-n-grin"
about 10 feet back from the podium. I never could use the podium before
because it was a see-through jobby, but I understand they now have a new
one. If not, I'll mount the camera on a tiny tripod hidden behind a plant
at the edge of the platform, but I know the angle won't be quite right. I
shoot this part of the ceremony from the balcony with a full complement of
strobes buried in with the stage lights. (the entire stage is almost 120
feet wide, by about 60 feet deep, so I have to use some serious horsepower)

Hmm. Maybe I can hire my daughters to be my assistants. They're doing
extremely well.

For this event, I'll be using the OM-3Ti with 35-80/2.8, MD-2 and T45 flash.
The E-1 will be used with radio triggers to my strobe-farm. The OM-2S with
MD-2 (or Winder) would be wirelessly triggered (still working on getting the
ebay remotes to work correctly for that) and adjusted for ambient lighting
conditions. The OM-4T would also be setup for ambient lighting or may be the
camera to use for wireless operation.

My goal is to get it back under 3000 pictures. Last year, two of us shot
around 6000 pictures. We were out of control. I realized that my trend for
the past three years has been getting pretty sloppy and shooting hundreds of
dupes to get that one "killer shot" which never materialized or was even
used in the final layout. But one thing different this year is that the
first night they're doing a huge banquet held in a gymnasium. The lighting
in there is "gutwrench-green" (resembling bile), so I'll change from
ambient/on-camera flash to studio strobes blasting the ceiling with
on-camera fill flash. This will give me a nice fall-off without the dungeon
look. They want "table-shots" of everybody this year. :(

So, the point of all this rambling is that the ancient technology still
serves a purpose and to the dedicated (crazy) photographer a powerful tool
in the arsenal.
