Oh yes, I was #149 on the waiting list for one of those. Audi did the
'demonstration' day at Silverstone as a result of which I decided to stick
with the extensively modified S4 (like 7K sterling worth) I was running. On
track there was no real straight line difference between my S4 and a
standard RS4 but my handling and upgraded brakes where better.

While I was on the waiting list we did a tour of the Audi factory at
Ingolstadt. Biggest booze cruise I've ever been on :-). They had beer
vending machines on the factory floor but personnel (at the time) where
limited to only 2 litres a day. Ended up at with a traditional Bavarian
wedding reception without the wedding. 4 day hangover from that :-)

I'm still in contact with the guy who owned the www.rs4.com site. He had
huge problems with his RS4, and not just the bendy wheel saga.

Anyway, the S4 was swapped out (2k miles before the turbos blew) for a Golf
r32 DSG. I still miss the torque from the turbos but not that agricultural
gearbox and, lets be honest, the R32 in the UK is far and away the more
sensible car..... I think Chris will remember the R32 :-)

Hmmmmm R8....

Lovely, Ian, just lovely.

But $1000 of chipping would give my little Beemer 2litre diesel
similar performance. Its top speed now is over 130, and another 30%
grunt (bhp or torque?) would surely move it up alongside the Audi :-)
