My son took an OM4 to SE Asia. I think he was too involved with
looking to take very many pictures, but the camera survived. Later the
camera was put in a backpack sitting on the bottom of a small boat
headed out to one of the islands on the California coast. When they
arrived at the island the backpack and camera were soaked. John
couldn't bring it back to life and it became a parts doner.

Given the cost of the digital, it sounds like a very good idea.
There's no point to carrying a camera if it isn't used. He is
apparently comfortable with the A70.
