I read "Wikinomics" by Tapscott and Williams last Saturday. Their
thoughts about openess to group participation seem exactly opposite of
how I perceive the Mac community. Sooo ....

No aneurism ... the "Mac promotion" and "windows attacks" to be blunt
seem petty to me. Clearly there has to be something I'm completely
missing. Andrew's comments make some sense to me. Most windows users
seem to be just put-off by the sermons which maybe causes the zealots
to shout louder.

When the Macs started using standard Intel microprocessors and Unix
they became more interesting ... almost a Linux box.

And your comment:

"Actually one of my biggest insufferabilities is that I don't support
monopolies".

???? Yeah right Apple is soooo open with their hardware and software
... but I really don't want to start a flame war. If you see Microsoft
and Intel as an evil Monopoly, supporting a small Monopoly can be a
step in the right direction

Realistically how many people aren't going to react with Chuck's
thoughts ... yeah right, I'm going to pay a fortune to the Apple
monopoly to have my clock synched...

The Wikinomics book is pretty interesting. I see a pretty strong case
presented that U.S. dominance is past history. Almost all businesses
based on closed systems will fail. I watch what my employer is doing
and what its big boss is saying. Wikinomics is right in line with what
they are trying to be ready for.
