I've operated my E-1 in -5C temperature already this winter.
I've also had the A1 in -10C temperatures. The only problems
I've encountered is with the LCD displays. They don't operate
too swiftly or at all when the temperatures plummet. Just bring
the camera back to "normal" temperatures and the displays are
fine.

These 0-40C ranges are pretty typical ratings for anything with
an LCD. Everything else should work reliably in sub-zero
temperatures, but the LCDs turn to stone. Likewise, when the
temperature gets above 40C the displays turn can turn BLACK!!!!
Scares the tar out of you when you see it the first time.

If you are really concerned, take a activated chemical
handwarmer and tape it/rubberband it to the bottom of the
camera.
