Bois prompted me to stop lurking and stick my head above the sand. I
unsubscribed when I went to Japan and I have been busy at work. Thanks again
to those who offered advise on Japan travel. My wife and I had a great
time. Japan was beautiful and I only wish the US was as clean and well
organized. I went to a couple used camera stores in Japan, but no deals. I
did see a 28mm f2 for about $900. Nikon and German stuff seemed to be most
popular. The only electronic equipment that really caught my eye was Sony's
3 CCD High Def camcorder. The image quality was amazing on an HD TV.

I will post some pictures when I have the time. I wasn't thrilled with my
shots. The sky was overcast and white, rain, shooting in midday, but who
cares it was great, relaxing trip. I used some 160nc and 800 Portra along
with slide film. The 800 Portra is really growing on me. Its latitude,
color and speed are great. I really handles mixed light well. I prefer my
Portra shots to 800 Press. Grain maybe an issue, but I haven't made any
enlargements. I also shot some Natura 1600. It is also a nice film. I
brought some Natura and Fortia SP home for give it a try.

What has happened in my absence? Bois got an A200? Walt got an E-1? Hey
Walt, how about a test shot with the 500mm? And Chuck is in the market for
a hiking stick (If you want a monopod, I really like my Giottos P-Pod).
Sounds like you are feeling better.

Its good to back.

Dean
