I don't know the answer to your question Wayne, but I would *not* do it
until you get an informed response.  There is more to the Control Grip than
just a switch or two, I see transistors, diodes, resistors, a capacitor and
who knows what here:

Is there any problem with using 12xAA NiCds in an M18V Control Grip 1 and
using the Charger for the M15V NiCd Pack to recharge them ?  Are there any
electronic bits in the Control Grips, or are they basically a battery holder
with a few switches ?
