Really? Wasn't it American cuttings that brought phylloxera to France in the 
first place? And wasn't it American root stocks that had French cuttings 
grafted onto them? And weren't the original Californian vines planted by 
Spanish Franciscans in the 18th century? And wasn't the discoverer of the 
solution to the American aphid infestation... a Frenchman? ?8^P -- Phil
