To the best of my knowledge, the dancing spot indicates a normal reading, not a spot reading.

Play with it, Barry. The dancing diamond changes with small areas that differ from the wide field. When you hit the spot button again it freezes where it was. If it was a normal reading it would jump from where it is dancing to the spot reading. It does not do that. Stephen is correct.
