Sort of, but still not quite 100% right. DRAM's require a continuous refresh
cycle in order to keep their state. SRAM's will keep their state as long
as power is applied (no refresh required). Both types will lose their state
if power is lost.
FLASH memories are a completely different beast. They are designed for
persistent storage and maintain their state without power. They are used in
a completely different fashion than either DRAM or SRAM. Compact flash is
a type of flash memory.
