Is he wintering over? February is the end of summer there. His main problem
will be with the batteries. In intense cold, there is a significant voltage
drop. This will affect metering with both camera and Lunasix. The old
answer was to have an adapter plug in the camera with a lead to the
batteries in the pocket, where they stay warm(er). I think there was such
an accessory for the OM - certainly, Contax make one for the G series
cameras. It is possible to make your own too.
The other problems are lubrication - yes, you can get a camera AND lenses
'winterised' but it won't be cheap - and condensation. Taking a camera from
a warm, humid hut into 40deg below causes condensation which then freezes.
That's nasty. Keep the camera cool, possibly outside the living quarters in
a storage area.
Basically - simple, mechanical, properly lubricated and lots of spare
batteries!
