That is how I have always done it (but left it in film cans...with fuji
containers they can clearly see it is film inside). Now, I haven't
traveled by air a whole lot of late so I don't know how the security
people react to this these days. I too need advice though as I am
traveling to Watkins Glen NY (from CA) for a shoot in late August and
need to be sure that my film (~20 or so rolls at least) makes it home
okay.
