: "Many photographers are not actually aware of the distinction between
: close-up photography and macrophotography and often use the two terms
: interchangeably. Generally speaking, however, close-up photography covers
: the magnification ranges from 1/10X to life-size (1X), while
: macrophotography covers magnification from life-size to approximately 30X.
: Magnifications beyond this range generally fall into photomicrography or
: photography with a microscope. There is quite a bit of overlapping, however,

This "30x" must be a misprint - 10x is more likely as the border between macro-
and
microphotography. 10x is about the lowest magnification that can be obtained
with a
normal microscope, using the photo eyepiece (N)FK 2.5x and a 4x objective. 10x
is
also the magnification at which the limitations of using a bellows at almost
full
extension with the 20mm macro are becoming obvious: the bellows lacks the fine
focusing mechanism of the microscope and exact focusing becomes very difficult.
The
maximum magnification that can be obtained with this lens is 16x, using the
extra
long bellows of the PMT-35.
