Regarding the shadows -
1. The twin side by side flashes help by softening, but hurt by causing
multiple horizontal shadows.
2. The bounce/diffuser idea would aid greatly, but would probably be
cumbersome.
3. A diffuser that clips on the end of the flash may sufficiently diffuse
the shadows.
4. Re-aligning the flash units to be one over the other vice side by side
may be better, especially if you can arrange the bases to be away from each
other, putting the flash heads closely aligned. Instead of a simple rail to
mount the T32s you'd need a rail with 2 bends to form a U. This would
simulate the more powerful single flash head that you crave.
5. The illumination is full and pleasing, even if the shadows are not
optimal. Unless you plan on making a living out of this, go with what you've
made. As I recall you were dragged into this situation. If anyone thinks
your results will be the same as a seasoned wedding photographer with
optimized equipment, they are being unfair. Of course you want to do all you
can to meet the challenge. Ultimately, your eye, timing and relationship
with the subjects will have more effect on the outcome than tinkering with
the flash unit. Don't burn yourself out over this. You'll do fine, and the
happy couple will be pleased with your efforts and results.
